Terms of Service

HBDB provides a free, story-first reference database and publication checklist for the Hellboy universe. Most of the site (browsing Characters, Publications, Series, Stories, Timeline, and Reading Orders) does not require an account. Signing in with Discord unlocks account-specific features, such as saving Reading Orders to your account instead of relying on an anonymous share code.

You may create an HBDB account by signing in with Discord. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your account or attempt to access another user's account.

We may suspend or terminate an account that abuses the Service — for example, by attempting to disrupt the site, scrape it abusively, submit false or malicious content, or violate these Terms.

• Don't attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
• Don't scrape or bulk-extract the database in a way that degrades the Service for other users.
• Don't use an account to impersonate someone else or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Don't submit content through the Service that is unlawful, infringing, or abusive.

Hellboy and all related characters, publications, and artwork referenced on HBDB are the property of their respective rights holders (including Mike Mignola and Dark Horse Comics). HBDB catalogs factual, publicly available bibliographic information (titles, credits, publication dates, story appearances, and similar reference data) for noncommercial, fan-reference purposes. We do not claim ownership over any third-party characters, artwork, or publications referenced on the site.

The HBDB site design, code, and original curated text are the property of the site operator. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute substantial portions of the site or database without permission.

HBDB is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As a fan-maintained reference, entries may contain errors, omissions, or be incomplete. We make no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or availability of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the HBDB operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time.
