After Hellboy: The Fury concluded, it was announced that Mike Mignola would return as artist to the ongoing Hellboy stories in Hellboy in Hell. However, this workload would mean he would no longer be able to do as many covers as he had in the past. Aside from the covers for Hellboy in Hell or other Hellboy comics, Mike Mignola would no longer be doing any covers for singles.
As a farewell to covers, the "Year of Monsters" cover variants were created, with one cover released for every month of the year 2012. These variants feature characters created by Mignola pitted against a famous monster of some sort. The covers have no relation to the story contained within the issue.
The following year, 2013, Mignola's convention sketchbook, A Year of Monsters, highlighted his uncolored art from the series of variant covers.
Hellboy Comic prop form the 2004 movie

The comic seen in the 2004 Hellboy movie. A few people have made replicas of this prop, some with actual comic books inside (usually just a regular Hellboy comic with the prop cover). You can also find a replica here, although it's smaller than a normal sized comic and has blank pages.
Dime Press #4

An even lesser known and often discredited appearance is Dime Press #4, published in April 1993. Dime Press is an Italian fanzine (fan magazine) published through Bonelli Studios. In February of 1993, Mignola attended a Bonelli Studios exhibition in Italy.
During dinner for the exhibition, Mignola and Italian artist Nicolo Mari did a joint drawing of the now cover image. The drawing was gifted to the host of the event as a thank-you present and to Mignola's surprise, it became a published cover.
The cover features Hellboy attacking a demonic version of the Italian SF comic book character, Nathan Never. This appearance is debated as though the character resembles the Hellboy we know, horn stumps, tail, and armoured "Right Hand of Doom," and what appears to be the B.P.R.D. logo on his chest, he is clearly grey instead of his classic red. --gocollect.com
A facsimile copy was created much later. The cover of the facsimile looks distressed compared to the original.
Great Salt Lake Comic Convention 1991 Pamphlet

Similar to the San Diego Comic Con, the following pamphlet was given to attendees in August 1991. The phamplet contained information of the artists in attendance, including Mignola on page 12. The information was accompanied with an iconic character they were known for but instead of Mignola putting one of the characters he has worked on like Batman, a never-before-seen character was present. Some sort of demon with the words "Hell Boy" on his belt buckle. This depiction is clearly a prototype that looks a fair bit different from the Hellboy we know today, but nonetheless - Hellboy. --gocollect.com
